Out of all the years of having fish and being around fish (mom and grandparents having tanks) I’ve never owned a Betta until recently.
(Albeit, my family hasn’t done more than fake decor and plants and colorful gravel with no water changes)
But I’ve always loved Bettas and how they look.
Tilly was an anniversary gift from my husband Oct 22, 2025 so she’s been with me for 3 months now. (I chose her, he just took me because I had been talking about wanting one to add to my community tank after a quarantine)
Anyways, I just think she’s super cute.
She’s in a 29g with 7 female guppies, 1 male guppy, 3 albino corydoras, and 4 peppered corydoras (I’m slowly working on getting the corydoras into correct shoal sizes but my quarantine tank is only 3 gallons and currently is being used to raise 8-10 guppy fry so I have to wait)
I also have an 18/20 gallon with about a dozen Medaka Ricefish 🥰
A little sad tho she lost a lot of her blue almost immediately after getting her home. She was in a little 10 ish gallon tank with at least a dozen other female bettas and a ton of guppies.
Ironically I almost didn’t choose her. But she kept coming to the glass and chasing me. When the employee came to help and used the clear plastic cup thing to fill with her tank water – she literally jumped tank into it and didn’t even need netted. She knew she was coming home to live a great life.
