Started fishing this summer. I’ve never seen this before on the lake I fish at in Northern Kentucky. What type of fish is this and how should I approach bass fishing when this is happening? Water is always muddy here. Less than 1ft visibility. Thanks!

Catfish or carp maybe, but the splashes are small and pretty uniform, so maybe panfish? Since it’s winter I’m honestly not too sure… did you try casting out something small to see if you could get a bite?

Looks like a school of gar. They flap thier tails against the water like that. Where you find gar, you won’t find anything else.

if you can see them doing little circles it’s probably carp, if no circles and just little pops, probably catfish. That’s atleast true for my experience from Indiana though. The other thing that leads me to maybe carp is that the visibility is awful, they tend to do that too.

Shad? I’ve never seen this, I know carp tend to hang out at the surface and do similar stuff but the splashes look too small for carp
