Decided to pull the trigger on a Vanford to go with a new Zodias I have on the way. Found this 2020 on clearance at Bass Pro-about the same price as digitaka.
One thing I noticed while researching this rod before purchase was the many posts Vanford owners complaining about a “scuffing/grinding” sound. My reel was no different but it bugged me that a reel like this had these issues from factory.
Long story short, I broke down the reel today assuming it wouldn’t be greased, but I was wrong. I spread the grease evenly as I could , put the reel together and the fain sound persists 🫠. Great learning experience though.
I definitely think some reels just have some clearance issues. Reel operates great -I’ll live with the sound for now.
pro-tip. Flip the body upside down to take the anti-reverse off the shaft 🥴-otherwise you’ll have to rebuild it like I did.
