Being ~4.5 years old, he's been slowing down for a while now, but in the last few days he hasnt been eating as much as normal.

His coloring has changed a bit over time, I dont know if this white around his mouth and down the side of his face looks age related, or if its a sign of sickness? It doesnt look identical to the pictures of cottonmouth that I have seen.

I wish I could remember if its been there for a long time or not, but I am scatter brained. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: thank you for the feedback, I am reading up now on dropsy treatment.

Could we see some other pics of him where he’s not distorted by the glass? He looks like he’s pineconing, which is a sign of dropsy, but without a good picture of him I can’t be sure

  2. That first picture is so hilarious oml–

But yes, I concur with people that it looks like he’s pineconing which is a *very* bad sign.

  3. His fins look like he’s beginning to clamp along with the bloating and lifted scales (pineconing). He could very much have dropsy as others have said.
You can try to treat it, it might still be early enough. But the chances of survival decrease the longer he’s left untreated. Dropsy is >90% of the time fatal.

  4. He is pineconing. But honestly 4 years old possibly going on 5 years old is unheard of with bettas now days. You did a great job hes had a long good life for a betta.
