Hi guys! I got my first betta fish last night. I decided not to feed him because he seemed very stressed out and like he just wanted to be left alone to get comfortable in his new tank. He’s still hiding in the back corner but I think it’s time for him to eat. I’ve got tropical bug bites and some freeze dried blood worms for him. I was wondering if I should give him a few pellets or some worms to cheer him up in his new home. Also I’ve noticed a bump on one side of his belly? Does this just look like a normal bump or something be concerned about?

hi! totally normal for him to be stressed in a new environment although i’m not too sure about that bump so i would keep an eye on it. i feed my betta fluval bug bite flakes/ pellets, freeze dried blood worms, and frozen brine shrimp, brine shrimp is more of a “treat” to bettas, so one or twice a week will suffice.

  2. Yeah the bump is the swim bladder and I’m pretty sure it’s normal unless it’s started to overly bulge that he might have malnutrition or swim bladder disease
