I don’t think so..he might but it would be too early to tell, if it gets worse you should let them know and come back on here, I would be happy to give you advice!

I’m not sure whether those are injuries from the plastic plant or fin rot. In both cases, the approach is basically the same, perfect water quality and, to support healing, aquarium salt baths.

I would remove the plant. Overall, the tank doesn’t look like it even meets the minimum requirements for keeping a fish.

He looks healthy for now, but based on the aquarium I’m seeing, he might not be properly/appropriately set up. It looks like she got the “pet store” package, which tends to be less than bare minimum and not healthy for the fish. However, that does entirely depend on her care. If she tests the water, knows how to properly clean the tank and filter (to preserve the nitrogen cycle, not just scrubbing everything clean), and the tank is a large enough size, then this aquarium would be just ok.
The aquarium says a lot more about the fishes well-being than his current state, though. Right now he does not have fin rot. But with those sharp plastic plants, the brightly coloured gravel, and the small space, he could easily get it from a mixture of his fins being torn on the decor, and stress from the lack of hiding places and natural decor. Stress is the biggest fish killer out there!

Oh boy.. I can’t see any visible health issues with him. From what I’m seeing I’m assuming his tank is small (correct me if I’m wrong) but I would also assume he doesn’t have a heater or filter. None of this is your fault obviously, you’re friend should look into proper betta care and make some changes when their back. I’m also assuming that you completely dumped all the water out, and did a full water change? which is not good for the fish unfortunately – again not your fault. For the rest of the time use a cup and take only a little bit of water out, and refill for water changes. But please let your friend know – 5 gallon minimum tank- heater and filter- No sharp fake plants – and no colored rocks.
