i lost my beautiful boy this morning. this photo was him just a week after bringing him home. this was my first ever betta and tank since i was a kid. i had about 6 months with this guy, he was so full of personality. about 2 weeks ago i got him some tank mates, 6 julii corydoras. (i have a planted 20 gal long) he was doing so well with them, no nipping or anything at all. then i noticed he was bloated when i had not fed him. i observed for a bit and he was taking the corys food. he was taking almost all of it, and due to him eating to much it was hard for me to keep his bloat down. i would fast for a day or two, and then feed a small amount to both fish. the cycle repeats. he kept going back to being bloated and last night he didn't make it. i did all i knew to do and tried my best. may he swim in peace.🫧💙 (i will be returning the corys to the store i bought them from. i would like for someone to better care for them and that way i am able to get another betta without running into an issue like this again.)

bloat is a difficult situation. check your parameters and whatnot, look into high quality foods, avoid preservatives, and maybe a uv sterilizer. after that there’s not much you can do, sometimes just the poor genetics get them
