got this today for my 5.5gal betta tank. it says that when the light is red it’s heating up , and when it turns green it’s reached the target temp. the light has turned green but it keeps turning green for awhile then back to red, then back to green. should i move it? is it deep enough? it’s been in the water it’s been in the water for about 5-6 hours. and is definitely warming the water

That’s normal I believe- I have this heater. To maintain the temperature it keeps having to turn itself on and off to do so. Mine fluctuates between the red and green light to show its heating and that it’s achieved its desired temp.

I had problems with one of my heaters at first, even took it back to the store, and then I realized it was submersible, and I didn’t have it underwater enough. Now, I put them as far down as I can get them because I have very small tanks also.

Its fine I use it. I recommended investing in an inkbird temperature controller. I have heard many horror stories of cheap heaters failing and cooking someone’s betta. It will prevent that scenario, it will cut the power once a target temperature you set is reached. They are like 30 bucks and doubles a very accurate thermometer. Since that specific heater heats up to 79 F. With the controller you can lower the temps if you wanted.
