I wasn’t planning to fish.
Just walking through the forest, following no trail in particular. At some point I heard water, stepped closer, and found a small river hidden between the trees.
Decided to make one cast.
Just one.
The fish hit immediately.
Big, heavy, calm — like it was meant to happen. When I cleaned it later, I realized how much food it gave: solid meat and a surprising amount of roe. Enough for several meals.
No rush. No struggle.
Just the forest quietly deciding to share.
Some days you go far and find nothing.
Some days you take one step off the path — and everything is already there.
