Got this guy for Christmas and came downstairs today and he's just been chilling at the top of the tank. Not really doing too much. He wanted to eat a little bit but he hasn't really moved too much. Today my tank dropped down to 76 and a half today when I came downstairs so I turned the heater up a little bit. It got really cold outside last night so I don't know if that might be stressing him out or not. If there's any help please help.

Do you have a heater in the tank? You need an adjustable heater in the tank to crank it up to 80 degrees. If you live in a cold climate, you need a heater inside the tank.

I got a 50w and it keeps the temperature 80 degrees in my tank. It’s easy to adjust.
From your description it seems like temp shock. You gotta gradually raise the temp as to not whock him the other way around. Also, tank description + parameters would help us determine if it is something else.
