Is this healthy? He’s constantly circling it, flaring and wrapping himself around the shell.
He does swim around normally he just does the routine so often it’s starting to worry me. I have been feeding him mostly freeze dried bloodworms for like 2 weeks. I had unexpected mold in my bug bites food and it’s been the holidays and he loved the bloodworms so I haven’t replaced his regular food. Could that be the reason?

Blood worms should be fed once a week because of their fat content, iirc. I don’t think he’s hurting the snail, your fish may just be horny and not picky.

Nah my male bettas did the same thing to my snails. They was just “showing off” aka asserting dominance

  3. That is not what is happening here and your fish is not trying to mate with this nerite snail nor will this behavior be remedied by diet. Fish eat the appendages off snails, bettas are known to eat eye stalks deliberately as well as start eating the flesh of snails. Flaring is not a breeding exclusive behavior. This snail, which is sentient and trapped in this situation has nowhere to go and deserves better. It is a wild caught being and that’s the being that needs the help in this situation although your fish is probably also stressed. Please do something so this snail doesn’t have to live like this. When we keep wild caught beings in captivity imo it is our responsibility to give them at least safer lives than what they faced in the wild (not that this particular snail would encounter a betta they do not have the same environmental needs or wants in a tank).

  4. My betta does this with my ramshorns. It’s because he likes to eat the tentacles off them :/ with the super long fins it makes it look like he’s trying to wrap around but really he’s just trying to be sneaky and failing lol
