This little girl, who we've called Petal, was housed with another female at a pet shop who was exceptionally aggressive. They'd both been there at LEAST a month, as I had dropped in month before.
They were both poorly, but Petal in particular. She was brave enough to come up to the front of the tank and say hi, the other attacked her, and Petal retreated to the back corner. I was honestly quite shocked at the brutality, but in awe of how brave she was to come say hi.
I impulsively made the decision to buy her, I could not leave her there to be bullied to death or neglected because she was so poorly. Best $15 I've spent.
See the before and after pictures, just 10 days difference. I'm so happy I took her in, she's beautiful and nosey and feisty. It took a week or so for those chronic stress stripes to settle, and now her colours are beaming! We already have a male samurai plakat so maybe one day when shes grown and in her forever tank, we could have some fry.
Every little life is a life worth saving. đ

Wow, so glad you rescued Petal! Betta fish are super territorial, especially in tiny tanks without hiding spots. Itâs totally normal for them to be aggressive toward other bettas, and they can even nip fins or worse. Truly, every little life is worth saving!
Wow, youâre doing such a great job! The colour on her is gorgeous
