Looking for advice from people who have had bettas with tumors. My guy Jim Jam has been developing 2 over the past few months, I’ve only had him since August. Only now has it begun to affect him physically and in turn personality wise. His back half droops a bit but he can swim to the top fairly easily. He doesn’t eat his food immediately or with intensity anymore, it’s hard to tell if he eats at all. He’ll strike at his food and then spit it out, sometimes I see him eat it and spit it back out several times at the bottom of the tank but it’s hard to tell if he’s consuming them or the shrimps are coming by. When do I start getting serious about euthanasia? I don’t want him to slowly starve even though he can swim. And for anyone who has done it before, what was the method you used and would you recommend it? Thanks for reading, why must bettas be so awesome but so short lived. 😔

I know a lot of people are fans of euthanization. I personally think clove oil is barbaric. And I don’t have the stomach strength to blunt force trauma anything to death.
Sometimes just allowing nature to be nature and making it the best most comfortable end is the option.
As far as euthanasia goes, I think the recommendations are smothering them with clove oil… Which is highly toxic and I’m pretty sure and awful way to go. Or blunt force to immediately end the suffering.
