Betta Fish: My betta has a wound??

Hello,

I was observing my betta the other day when I first noticed the slight bump on the left side of his face (rather close to his eye). Today I was checking in on him and noticed that the bump has some irritation and redness??

He is currently living in a 5.5g tank with his tank mate being a nerite snail.

Does anyone know what this could possibly be causing this? Are there any solutions or recommendations for how to treat the wound?
