Hello

Today I’m moving. I have been researching everywhere how to do it safely with my betta.

This was the most often seen method.

Is there anything I should fix? I’m pretty worried.

I put him in a ziplock bag filled with his tank water. And in a container for safety.

just try to make sure the water doesn’t get too cold and do your best to drive steady.

Looks good enough, the other comments covered any tips, I just want to say he looks mad 😂

  3. To an extent, air is more important than water. Look at how fish are transported – a lot of times they will be 50/50 or even 70/30 air to water as the fish need oxygen. I transported all of my fish (bettas, tetras, shrimp, snails) in rinsed tall tupperware containers and juice pitchers that were about half full with water for a 4hr trip and they did great. I did run an air stone (USB plug in one) in a large pitcher that had 20 small tetras in it to be safe, but didn’t do anything special for the bettas.

Highly recommend purchasing two things. You need a 5 gallon bucket with a lid and a car outlet converter. You can get the bucket from your local home repair store like Lowe’s or Home Depot for cheap. And the outlet converter, you plug into the charging port in your car and you can actually plug household devices into it. I cut a hole in the top of the bucket lid, and out the heater through the hole and plugged it into the charging port. Kept everyone in one place, with warm water and minimal messes! Air and water ratio was easily manageable.

  5. I found that my bettas did much better with a move when they had somewhere to hide. I covered most of the jar with a towel and left a gap open on the side near the top where he could look out if he wanted to. Without the towel he was stressed and frantic and trying to ram the corners of the container. With the towel he was chill and would peek out on occasion. Seemed much less stressed.

  6. I don’t know if there’s a local fish store on the way, but, if there is, maybe you can stop at one and ask them to help pack your betta’s bag with oxygen.

  7. I did a nine hour move with my girl in a gallon jug with the top third empty. (The kind of jug with the plastic handle on top, not the side.) I put that in a bucket lined with blankets to keep her warm and the cap of the jug off. She was fitted behind my driver’s seat in the footwell with more blankets to minimize movement. She did great and went from jug to tank that night after we arrived. Still here and still a menace to society! Go easy on your brakes and give yourself lots of slow down room and you can do it safe and easy 🩷
