We set up this 125L aquarium back in September for our 6-year-old son. Turns out the shrimp didn’t get the “just a few” memo, because they’re absolutely thriving and reproducing like crazy (~50 now).

We’re really happy with how the tank is doing, so we wanted to share it with you all. That said… at what point do we have an overcrowded shrimp city? How many would you recommend for a tank this size?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

  1. I think they will regulate themselves just dont give too much food because then you get more shrimp, more dirt etc but they will never actually be overcrowded

They do tend to manage their own numbers. But if you get too many, you can always gift/sell some or trade with local fish stores – depending on the rules in your area.
