Hello all- this is my betta Walton and he has had a pretty dramatic change in appearance over the last 48 hours. His fins were already a little torn up when I got him but worse now and the discoloration is totally new. Please tell me what may be happening and how I can help him- thanks in advance!

Looks like a pretty bad case of finrot to me . You don’t want it to reach its body or it can be fatal.
Do daily water changes and add aquarium salt. You can also start antibiotics if you want.
It should heal up fine. If you can separate him from the tetras for now. Even the most docile fish do not leave a diseased fish alone.
I agree, looks like really bad fun rot ☹️ I use kanaplex but I know there are other medications. I have used Indian almond leaves also to help with stress and bacteria (I think). Aquarium salt baths are an option too.

Looks like he got stuck somewhere and injured himself? Or something has attacked him?
Definitely fin rot, and a severe case. What are your water parameters? Do you have a hospital tank? I’d start Kanaplex and StressGuard. Indian almond leaves to add tannins. I wouldn’t use aquarium salt. He’s not bloated and the salt acts as a diuretic.
