I have this moss ball that I got last week from petco for my price (Steve) and it has these white dots on it now. Is this normal? I’m pretty new to live plants in the tank. We add a water conditioner with weekly water changes and right now I’m also adding in some Melafix to the tank. Any help is appreciated!

Are you adding any liquid fertilizer? The plant is essentially a ball of moss wrapped around a plastic ball casing, meaning it can’t root down to get nutrients and needs to take it from the water column
So that actually looks like those fake moss balls that are supposed to “absorb phosphates” or something, right? I’ve never seen live moss balls at Petco. Anyway, those attract all kinds of crap, I recommend trying so of the top fin actual live plants. They usually even sell and Anubias or moss attached to hardscape for a turnkey solution while you’re still learning how to attach things yourself
