He’s had it since we got him (rescue betta, was privately owned before he came to our clinic)… but are the red splotches on his head normal or is this an issue? We’ve had Amoeba for 12 days… and treated with Kanaplex because we were concerned about potential fin rot. He seems healthy and happy in terms of behavior.
Also, the “we” is because he is our vet clinic’s resident betta. Also, these are two sets of pictures taken 10 days apart so…

Oh… and 5 gallon tank, heater, filter, catapa leaves, live plants… a VERY ambitious bubble nest in the making and nitrates are 10-20ppm, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites
It may be an injury from his past, but if it doesn’t seem to bother him I wouldn’t worry about it. It could also just be coloration, hard to tell.
