Hi r/flyfishing –
TL;DR: I’m looking for advice on guided fly fishing excursions in Scotland for this upcoming May for my brother and our dad for his 70th birthday – more details below.
For my Dad’s 70th birthday this May, my brother and I are going to take him fly fishing. He has picked Scotland, so that’s where we’re going!
He has experience with fly fishing but hasn’t done it in decades, and my brother and I are completely inexperienced. Therefore, we’re looking for a guided excursion with professional guides to help us make sure we’re having a great time. Ideally this would be a multi-day trip where we are camping each night. We all have plenty of experience with camping – the more time we spend together in the wilderness on this trip, the better!
Before he decided on Scotland, we were looking at things like this in the US: https://www.budgeslodge.com/fly-fishing. This had some other things that appeal to him, like having meals prepared for us each day.
I was having a lot less luck finding similar things in Scotland, and that’s where I’m hoping you’ll be able to help me out. And of course, any other advice for planning this trip is welcome!
Thank you very much!
