Hey everyone!
This is my betta, Jackie, in his 10gallon. It was moderately planted with 6 different types of plants, aqua soil substrate, 4 cherry shrimp and a nerite snail, receiving 6 hours of light a day, not near a window. I’ve struggled with algae (as you can see), so I’ve added in another nerite snail and 3 amano shrimp. This video is taken 4 days after a tank clean and major deforestation (because long green hair algae was wrapped around all the plants). The added snails/shrimp appear to have made very little difference. What would you recommend me to do/stock in order to keep it cleaner? I don’t want to overload it.
Thanks!

Added info:
Tank size: 10 gallon
Heater/filter: yes, both
Tank temp: 24C
Parameters: Honestly I haven’t checked in months and have no strips left. My tank is well established and other than the algae there’s been no issues so I didn’t buy more strips
Tank age: 9 months, I’ve had Jackie about 7.5 months
Water changes: 25-30% every 3 weeks. I remove the water with a jug and spot clean with aquarium equipment (tongs, scissors, turkey baster kind of thing) then add clean water to a clean bucket, add conditioner, let it sit for ~20mins and slowly jug that back in, over the heater area
Tankmates: 4 cherry shrimp, 3 amano shrimp, 2 nerite snails
Feeding: Jackie gets pellets daily, 6-8, and sometimes bloodworm/brine shrimp which he refuses to eat and I keep trying him with. This is then often eaten by the shrimp, who otherwise get 2 pellets once a week
Decor & plants: 6 types of plants, driftwood, coconut shell, a small piece of cuttlebone, small aquarium stones and a faux aquarium rock

Get 3 Ramshorn snails. Don’t overfeed your tank. Problem solved.
Turn your light off for a few days. Light is more for us than them. Cherry shrimp won’t make a dent really and they consume more biofilm. Keep rubbing algea off plants. Ensure good nutrition. Bettasnstomahs are smaller than their eye ball so feeding g several times a day would be considered overfeeding. There an abundance of nutrients from left over food. Reduce fertilizer. Amano shrimp eat algea but it takes a long time. If you do get ramshorn snails they reproduce rapidly so if you go that route and tons of snails are in there that’s your sign of overfeeding
Otos helped alot in my 20 gallon Betta tank, so maybe a small group would make sense 🙂
Otherwise try to reduce the amount of light
