Hello! I have posted about my little fishy Wonderbread on this subreddit before regarding concern for his “tumors” (putting tumors in quotes because idk an official diagnosis). I am posting again out of true concern about how these tumors are affecting her(?) quality of life. She swims fine, eats, and overall gives normal fish vibes. I just get scared that the tumor on the gill if affecting her ability to breathe. I also wonder if she feels “heavy” because of all the weight those tumors must add on. Overall, I guess I am just wanting either…

1) Confirmation they are tumors
2) Advice for how to determine when the tumors are truly affecting the quality of life
3) An estimate on how longer she has if they keep growing (as they have been)

In addition, one had actually “burst” awhile back, but then literally reformed and grew bigger than ever. In my opinion, all of them just keep growing. They are definitely apart of her body.

Thanks in advance for any form of advice/feedback/guesses!

  1. Yes, these are tumors. If she is eating well, behaving normally, and can swim normally, then their impact on her quality of life is low. There’s no way to tell “how long she has” because she is more likely to die from something not directly related to the tumors. The tumors themselves are indicative of other genetic issues. The samurai I had with a tumor was prone to other illnesses (we treated and beat columnaris and popeye) and he ended up eventually developing dropsy and I put him down when it became clear he was struggling, but even that took a few weeks from the first onset of symptoms.
