Last time I went out ice fishing the ends of BOTH the positive and negative cords that connect to the battery in my Marcum LX-5 flasher fell off. Is it possible to reattach myself?

    Very easy fix.
Go to your local hardware or electronics store or shit maybe jsut an auto zone or oreliys.
Bring those clips and match them up with the same ones.
Get a pair of wire strippers.
Most of these jsut clamp down around the wire and then heat shrinks. . But I do recommend a small dab of solder to hold it in place securely.

Go do this. Quick 10min fix. Back on the ice.
    Tight lines my dude.

  2. Yeah you can go to hardware store and buy new connectors. Strip some plastic off the wire and use pliers to crimp the connectors back to the wire. And remember shop class 101 never pull a cord by the wire always from the plug lol. Tight lines

  3. Yeah, you’ll be able to fix this. Get a wire stripper/crimper and some heat shrink spade connectors. Strip the wires back a bit, crimp the spade connectors to the wires and then hit the heat shrink with some heat. Im sure there are many youtube videos out there that can walk you through it. Its a good skill to learn.

Harbor freight sells a kit with lots of these connectors AND it comes with the crimper. Use them all the time for automotive and they work great.

  5. I am thankful for ice fishing in the sense that it has forced me to learn some basic wiring and electrical skills. Am now powering my Helix 7 with DeWalt 20v batteries and loving it. So my advice is more generic, to use people’s suggestions in this thread and watch some YouTube videos on basic wiring. You can get this back up and running yourself very easily.
