In terms of soft plastics, when it comes to freshwater fishing, is this enough to catch good fish?

Absolutely. Just be mindful that softplastics will break so having 1 one each may not be enough. I started with a small kit like this then learned what I liked. For smallplastics, my go to are:
    – senkos
    – craws
    – fluke
    – paddle tail
    – tubes

Rarely I will have frogs or lizards. For gear, the hooks are perfect. Look to add bullet weights and jigheads

Definitely for now. Those soft plastics will wear out and become unusable with use. It’s plenty to start with.

For some people this is good but for me personally I would get some Senkos.
I like the colors green pumpkin, black with blue flakes and a green pumpkin with a chartreuse tail/tip.
Also get some 1/4th ounce bullet weights so you can do what’s called a weighted Texas rig.
