So long story short, I bought a medium spinning rod and ended up wanting a medium-light so I just bought a new setup since it was cheaper than a rod I was looking at.

The setup is:

•Reel – Daiwa Crossfire LT 2500

•Rod – Bass Pro Shops Micro Lite 7’ Medium-Light

•Line – Izorline XXX Super Copolymer 6lb

This a fun setup honestly it gets the job done. I was using a drop shot rig and it’s actually sensitive enough to feel the bottom contact. I am thinking of switching to fluorocarbon for that extra sensitivity. It does catch fish as the photos show lol.

The reel being heavy is the only thing I have a slight problem with but for it being around $35 I can live with it. Overall for under $100 this setup is a fun one.

  1. I thought up a nearly identical setup with the redesigned Shimano Sellus rods. Was wondering if the reel was heavy enough to balance a 7foot ML. You think I could drop down to the 2000?
