It's my friend's Betta fish
he seems like he's been injured badly from some kind of decoration.
he complained that the water smells and the tank is 1 month old. I think the cycle was incomplete and he's been overfeeding. he hides a lot before he was like this.

I mean have you even checked the water parameters?? That’s the first thing you gotta do and it would tell you everything you need to know about the water. But lil bro has fin rot so he is stressed. From the pics he needs more plants
If there is no filter in the tank there is likely not much aeration either. The bacteria for the nitrogen cycle need surface area and water flow/aeration to establish well.
Likely fin rot from poor water quality, and loss of color from stress.
Indian almond leaf in the tank or aquarium salt baths could help before jumping to medication
Need to test the water. Can’t help if you guys won’t learn what you need to. Long term, you have lots of homework.
