I’ve owned many many bettas in the past and never had this issue. I have had this adorable female betta now for over 2 months. She lives in a heavily planted 10g tank. All parameters normal, heater + filter. However I’m noticing that she has just stayed a little less than 1 inch the entire time I’ve owned her. Props if you can find her in this photo. Is this normal? She eats very well (I feed her betta pro shrimp patties pellets) and is always happy and excited.

It’s hard to tell from this photo but it does appear she may be a little bit on the thinner side. How much/how often do you feed her and does she get any variety?

  2. Any live food sometimes ? I feel like bettas are getting increasingly more difficult to feed over time. I remember like 10 years ago, they would’ve eaten anything when now, my two boys only want live food 🥲

  3. She might just be a small fish. Genetics play a big role. Even within a spawn there will be smaller fish… idk if I should call them runts or not, i dont want to be rude to the little fish lol Our plakat that we have now is bigger than any of the long finned fish we had in the past, though he also comes from a more quality place and is more or less the size a betta should actually be. The male we had before the current two males was the smallest betta we ever had. He was even smaller than the female we had at the same time lol
