Trying to figure out how to catch bass at this lake more consistently. I fish from a kayak and typically beat the banks but the bass mainly chase schools of gizzard shad at this place so I'm obviously not catching much. Just can't seem to dial it in here due to lack of knowledge on how to fish open water consistently.

So I am unsure of what is in that lake but I have always liked setting up nightcrawlers on a hook at the end of the line and 6 to 18 in up a small split shot and inflate the night crawler. It’s my go to for new fishing holes. if there are catfish and you are day fishing cast towards the sun. feel the sinker hit bottom, reel in slowly pausing after you go over an obstruction.
