It seems like it almost never rains on the east coast anymore, and the combination of low flows and frigid, dry weather has made for tough winter fishing this year in Virginia. I’ve been determined to make it work, though, notwithstanding, and I’m really blessed to have landed some beautiful fish over the last month. They came at the price of some miserable days battling light tippet and small flies in strong winds, frozen rod guides, the occasional loss of mobility of my hands (anyone have a good waterproof fishing glove recommendation?), and just generally getting skunked, but I’d still get out and do it again tomorrow. Good luck to you guys out there. Remember not to compare your day to somebody else’s highlight reel – rest assured that it hardly tells the whole story.
