Hi guys!

So I grew up fishing with my grandpa. We didn’t get to do it too often but I got pretty good. Unfortunately, he passed back in 2015 and I put down the rod.

Recently, I’ve been able to get back out camping, and I’ve been fishing twice. Naively, I thought it would all come back and I’d be a whizz back on the water but I quickly found out that idea was wrong.

I’m hesitant to use any of his lures so I got a few cheap ones that looked like his and I plan to try and get out once a week or so to practice. Anyone have any tips?

This is my current rig, I know not everyone likes a collapsible pole, but I do a lot of hiking and biking so it’s convenient for me to just chuck in my backpack.

  1. Collapsible rods are fine. You’ll probably want to ditch the worm weight, though, or at least turn it around and remove that little knot so it can slide all the way to your lure. That spinnerbait is meant to be fished alone, without any extra hardware.
