I got Casper 5 months ago! His color has changed drastically over that time and now in the past 1-1.5 months his tail has been curling He is my first betta and I’m trying to make sure I’m taking the best care I can!! Is this normal? Photos today/from the day I got him.

Filter Yes
Parameters measured with the freshwater master test kit pH ~8/
Ammonia 0ppm, NO2 0-.25, NO3 0ppm
I’ve had my betta for 5 months and cycled my tank 6 Months ago in prep for him!
I change the water 25-50% every 2-3 weeks
I feed him frozen blood worms, betta bug bites and betta pro shrimp patties
Fresh plants from petco and a driftwood from a betta shop online!*

I think water hardness can make their tails curl, not sure if it’s necessarily a bad thing. Maybe give him an Indian almond leaf
Mine has a bit of that on 2 of his fins. We do have very hard water where I live. Not sure there is a correlation but…..
It’s likely either genetics or your water is hard, maybe both. If there’s nothing else going on with him there’s nothing to worry about, especially since it seems like you take really good care of him.
