I have been blanking a lot recently, i fish a small lake with not many fish, the weather is about 6-9 degrees celcius in the air just wondering what baits and tactics i should be using, not too complicated though as i am a beginner

Well done bud! Get yourself a method feeder w/ 6 inch Hair rig size 10/12 hook. A stinky fishy method feeder mix with some sweetcorn + the can juice for good measure and a single piece of sinking fake corn on the hair works wonders mate! Make sure to chuck a couple small balls of mix out before you start and after you’ve caught something!

Naturals for winter fishing has always served me well, if you dont mind catching anything a float set up with 2 or 3 maggots on the hook and throwing a handful of maggots over the float every 5 minutes or so, if you don’t catch anything in 45 mins to an hour move swims.

If you want to target larger carp try a medusa rig, a bunch of maggots threaded onto bait floss and tied to a hook either with a micro swivel or onto the loop of a multi rig, use a small piece of zig foam to make them critically balanced and put on a pva mesh bag filled with casters. Or try throwing single high vis pop ups about and keep moving around trying new swims and features to cast to.

Use a cage feeder with a few maggots on the hook and a sweet groundbait with very few maggots in the feederl. Use a size 10 or 12 hook on a 50 cm hooklink.
