Any suggestions?

  1. Rods look like they’re ready to go for a swim, I’d invest in some rod holders (could be as cheap and simple as PVC pipe zip tied to your crate).

Make sure you have a PFD and wear it too. Otherwise looks like a nice simple setup to kill a couple hours on the lake

If it’s letting you have fun on the water it’s looking great. Catching fish is just icing on the cake. Only suggestion right off the bat would be some cheap rod holders that mount to the side of the milk crate. Frees up space in front when trying to paddle and organize gear.

  3. Like others have said, some rod holders you can attach to your crate. Walmart sells them in the fishing section, just a pvc pice with the cut out so they sit in place. They were like $3. I got 2 & zip tied them to the crate, works great p

Coil that line neater. Get rod holders. Wear a PFD. If you’re fishing by yourself in a remote area, investment in a dry suit so you don’t become a statistic. That water is cold.

This looks both more sane and more fun that all these ultra heavy builds you see on here. This is the way.

  6. 10/10, if you get more into it get a little rail system for the sides and you can free up your hands and do some trolling

  7. Looks like a good start! After a few trips, you’ll start figuring out what you want and where you want it. Don’t rush to make holes in your boat. Eventually you’ll want to put a couple of tracks on the gunnels for rod holders and such. An anchor trolley makes using an anchor or drift sock easier and more effective. Things of that nature will one in time. Tight lines!

If it gets you on the water and fishing, there’s no way it could look bad. Stay Safe, have Fun and May your rods always be bent.
