3.52lb PB on the funky weedless ned rig. Only had a 1/16oz jig head so added the 1/8oz sliding weight to get to the 1/4oz minimum lure weight of the new rod. Surprisingly gave it a pretty sweet erratic action when popping it off the bottom.

Great way to break in the new setup. ARK Invoker Tour 7’ MH and ARK Gravity GS5 3000, with 20lb braid to 12lb fluoro leader.

  1. Nice! Nice way to break in the new rig! I came so close to getting an Ark setup during the big sale at Christmas. I wish I didn’t hesitate, honestly. What’s your thoughts so far?

  2. Looks like a largemouth, but I’d check the tongue for a tooth patch– there are hybrids in my area (meanmouth), and that’s often the only way to tell… LMB have smooth tongue, spotted & hybrids have a definite tooth patch.

If it fought like hell and didn’t give up after 15-20 seconds or so, that’s another clue it might be a meanmouth, spotted bass fight 5x harder and twice as long as largemouth, and most of the meanmouth I’ve caught share this.

Tldr; definitely at least part LMB, tooth patch on tongue + ridiculous fight = meanmouth

  3. Free rig ned rigged up like you would rig a flipping hook is wild but i can only imagine the action was pretty nasty
