my buddy thinks this is a brown trout but another buddy and i think its a cutthroat or a cutbow it was caught on the truckee river, note there are cutbows in the truckee

Brown trout without a doubt. In no world does this look like a cutthroat. Try to avoid rolling em in the dirt if you’re practicing C&R, this damages the spike coat leaving the fish susceptible to infection.
