I tried to put braided line on it but it had monoline on it originally. However when I started casting it tangled. So either I put it on wrong or braided line doesn't work. I used a 15/300 on it because I wasn't sure what braided line would work. Please help 😔 I'm a fool (and new to this).

scale down if you want to use braid… that reel is totally intended for mono, why do you need braid on this reel?

  2. use mono backing, The braid probably didn’t actually grip the spool. Some spools are braid ready but that isn’t one of them.

Look up Leader knots. Double uni and alberto are easy but the FG is the best. Use cheap mono for the backing and than tie the braid on.

when i spool my reels with braid i put the spool in a tub of water and reel in with tension. Never had issues with the line being loose.

If you’re a beginner i would just say use mono for a little bit and than switch over once you’re more into it.

Simple fix. 1) Tape painters tape or medical flex wrap type tape for the braid to prevent slippage. Many anglers use the medical flex tape to wrap around the thumb or index fingers to prevent braid burns and cuts. Make sure to have a good arbor knot.
    2) mono back the spool meaning first add about a thin layer of mono. (Using an arbor knot). Roughly 100 yards. Then tie on the braid with an Alberto or Uni knot.

    Hope this helps!
