Went surf fishing late one night last month with a few friends. Light rain, cold air, barely anyone around, just the sound of waves and headlamps moving along the beach. Didn’t really expect much, then this showed up out of nowhere. It’s an edible fish, and luckily my friend is the experienced one and knew exactly how to handle and prep it properly, so yeah, it ended up going home with us instead of going back in the water.

I love lionfish. Honestly makes the best ceviche I’ve ever had. Mostly because the small fillets lend themselves to being diced. It’s a mild white fish that is overlooked too often. That said, I’ve never heard of anyone catching one on a rod. They’re almost always speared.
Had a fried lionfish sandwich in the Cayman Islands. It was one of the best fish sandwiches I’ve ever had.
I watch something on YouTube where a lads using them to make loads of different meals, wanted to get more people eating them to hopfully get a market going and more people targeting them to get the numbers down
