have a cheap combo right now and looking into a nice setup for ffs strolling. have decided between
these 2 setups but wanted to get everyone opinion.
duckett rod is 190 and shimano ultegra is 180
daiwa rod is 250 and daiwa fuego reel is 120
wanted to know if i should go with a cheap reel and more expensive rod or a expensive reel and cheaper rod.
also would be open to other setup suggestions under 400$.

The Ultegra is Shimano’s entry into their upper tier reels. It is a fantastic reel and a better bang-for-your-buck value
I’d pick the Diawa rod. I didn’t care for the one Duckett I had
I’d go with the 2 Daiwas
1. With spinning reels, the differences with performance are small at those price points. So i think you get more value from the rod.
2. I like Daiwa more than Shimano.
Ducketts really do break too easily in my opinion. They feel great in the hand, and are as sensitive as any others In their price range, but I think everyone that uses them regularly would warn you about the same thing.
