This fish has a knack for finding the most dangerous place to stick his face. The photo is from a few months ago when I had to rescue him from getting his head stuck. You can see his injury on the top of his head. I put him in the best container I could find while I tried to make his main tank safe.
I say tried because no matter what I do, he still finds a way to get himself scraped up. I not a newbie, I have kept bettas for years. Yet, I have never had one so determined to cause himself harm.
Please tell me your crazy betta stories, I need some validation that sometimes these fish just do silly things.

What in the world enclosure is that
The only thing I can think to do is idiot proof it as much as possible. Sand substrate, no hardscape, big leaf plants and minimal exposed roots to prevent tangling like Amazon sword (roots remain in substrate) and water spangle (short root floaters), maximum lid coverage and sponge filters, but maybe remove or seal off the clear top attatchment so he doesn’t wedge himself in there? That’s a crazy situation!
no, but she takes personal offense to the idea that the giant who feeds her and cleans her house and goes to work everyday so she can live in luxury is entitled to decide what plants go where
