Commentary: At this stage when the yolk is almost fully absorbed (a day or two later after the previous post) the fries are nearly free swimming. Free swimming means that they are swimming horizontally and are no longer falling down onto the floor. Their dad still looks after them loyally but his job is almost over soon. They clump to the sides where there is water tension and on the surface where there is oxygen.

After a further day or two, they will start eating tiny microbes in the water column. At this stage, vinegar eels can be fed. I tried BBS but only several took on this food. Those fries who were stronger and daring tried BBS and their growth was immense. So much so that they were chomping on their smaller siblings. (Another video I will post in the future) As a breeder, there is no way to save all fish, just do the best for the group in general to survive.

Once most of them were eating, the tough part is keeping the water clean and ammonia free. Water change is important if you don't have a filter. So does dosing your water conditioner in the right amounts. I lost many babies in this process and I learnt what works. Velvet became a thing and I immediately took action. Thank God for my macro lenses that I could spot the disease quickly.

At the end: 100 tails made to adulthood….

It was a great experience. Looking forward to share more with the masses….

I will definitely post more! 💖 So happy to be sharing my footage with the world. Happy looking!

This is so cool please document them until they are grown! I especially like the dad suddenly came up to look at the fries.
