Betta Fish: Meet Cannoli! And a lil backstory

This is my new finned friend Cannoli! He was gifted to me by my Fiancée for my birthday a few weeks ago. My previous betta Adderall passed in October. My tank at that point was just Henry the nerite and a copious amount of ramshorns. I was totally okay with letting it sit that way as I had an idea for switching to a 20 long from my current 20 standard. Then a few days before my birthday I got a call from my fiancée and she says she went into petsmart to see the cats (she’s a huge cat person) but then looks at the bettas. Well she tells me about one that watches her every move and she feels like they bonded. I wasn’t really wanting to get one but I told her when I got off work we could go back and look. Well long story short I agreed as I do love bettas and I did want another. So we walk out with Cannoli and I have her help me acclimate him and teach her a little bit along the way. I had her put him in his new home and he was very excited to get to exploring. The first few days I wasn’t super invested I still wanted him to thrive but I wasn’t super attached. Fast forward a few weeks and I love this lil guy greeting me when I get in the morning and come home from work! He still will welcome my Fiancée when she comes over too! He has a big attitude and luckily now leaves the ramshorns alone. He enjoys swimming through the roots of the frog bit, going through his cave and the roots that hang over it, sitting in the tall plants that have formed a layer at the top of the tank. He’s a gorgeous boy and I’m so happy to have him in my life!
