I have an old Shakespeare Powerplay spinning reel that I took apart apart to learn how they operate and thought it would be similar to modern day reels.

As I took the bail arm off the reel, the 'S' shaped metal bit fell out from one side of the bail knob(?) but I have no idea where from, nor how it connects to the bail arm. I also don't know which side, and which orientation the bail arm attaches.

For context, I've already reached out to Shakespeare who have informed me they could not find any schematics or any information on this as it is probably an old, cheaper combo reel.

If anyone can help me fix this or can refer me to videos of a similar reel, I'd be very grateful.

Reel model: Shakespeare Powerplay 2515 040, Spinning
Pics 2/3 = The bail 'knob'

Pics 4/5 = The actual bail arm

1) Which part of the bail arm/knob does the 'S' piece slot in? [NOTE: the white piece at the end of the spring in Picture 3 can be rotated. Once rotated there is a hole in the middle]

2) How can i tell which part of the bail arm fits into the bail knob? Both sides fit perfectly.

3) Which orientation?

The bail arm us the worst part to take off. Did it once never doing it again. You gotta try and piece it together real slowly and get that spring to sit in a way it doesn’t want to.
