NOTE: I’m not trying to sell them here, just would like a general idea from someone with knowledge on this to give me insight
Hello, I have around 60 blue white (and black) copper Halfmoon and halfmoon plakat bettas that I have bred and raised over the last 6 months. The father was a halfmoon plakat all white platinum male and the mother was a rare black copper halfmoon from Thailand. The bettas I bred feature shiny luminescent colors under light – almost like a metallic rainbow – which I feel makes them a bit more expensive than others?
I’m not greatly knowledged on betta fish grades, rarities, and types. But I’m looking to make a decent amount of money from selling these bettas locally and online.
Pictures: pics 1-14 are few jarred male and females, pics 15-18 tanks are where other bettas are held in, pics 19-20 are the parents
How much could these bettas go for?
Thanks!!!

$5-$15.
awww the little guy on slide 5 is so pretty
I didn’t see anything special, imo all chain store quality.
$5-15 a piece.
It depends who’s buying them. Are you shipping them to reach a broader audience?
I’m cautious buying directly from hobbyists myself. I want to know genetics is why, though. I breed mine at times.
Most people buy based on appearance. So, $5 – $10 each in general or they’re just going to go to pet stores that have guarantees.
If you can show parentage, possibly $15.
I’d be willing to pay more for a betta that comes from a hobby breeder, coz I don’t want to support the business of importing Bettas from SEA. Very few Bettas even make it here alive; the rest perish miserably along the way… I really don’t want to spend my money on something like that.
However, there are other breeders out there besides you, and the prices of those I’m familiar with aren’t above 20 USD either.
Your fish are truly beautiful—but then again, actually all Bettas are. Every single one of them is unique.
But if you plan to sell your fish to Germany, let me know 😉
I feel this is something you should have thought about before you had even bred them, let alone when they’re 6 months old. Do you have a market for them? You can’t breed fish, raise them to sellable age, and then do your research. You can’t expect to sell them when you know nothing about them (genetics etc).
You sound like someone who has just started a hobby and immediately wants to make money off of it. These are live animals and you can’t just bring them into the world without prior planning. The time and effort you’ve spent raising them will null whatever profit you wanted to make.
I would sell them for $12 a piece. If someone buys 3 or more at once take off a couple bucks. Like if they buy 5, take off $5 or $10. That way, you get your moneys worth the the risks and/or complications that may be involved, and irresponsible fish owners aren’t super attracted to a cheaper price.
If you get no sales cause of it being “12$”
Move it down to 10.
If the same thing happens at 10, the lowest I’d go is 8.
They look so cute! Who knew you’d get blue marble looking babies from black and white parents
