My spouse claims that my betta in this tank requires one of those little suction cup plastic hollow logs to sleep in. He regularly gets voiced over with various renditions of “father I need log” “father I’m sad” when we feed tanks in the morning. I think he has plenty of resting places. Settle this “argument” for us lol

Be careful if it’s not at least 10 gallons you will get crucified🤣
As hilarious as “father i need log” is, and as much as I liked having a floating log, my betta barely used it. He had a nice Anubias to lay on when he wanted to reat near the top too (and he still prefered sleeping on the gravel lol), but you seem to have a large piece of driftwood that nearly touches the surface which is perfectly fine. I’m sure his log needs are met by the driftwood being there lmao
Doesn’t need a log. You could use more plants (tall stems) and you really should take better care about the appearance of your tank. It looks filthy af.
You don’t *need* one imo, since you have floating plants and driftwood that reaches the surface. Both of those are good spots for the betta to rest if it needs to. It wouldn’t hurt to have one, but I don’t think it’s necessary if you don’t want it.
bettas enjoy having something near the surface to rest on so they don’t have to do as much effort to go get a breath. this could be a floating log, a hammock, some large leafed live plants, a suction leaf, etc…
