After a long time of questioning how this happened I finally bought some new tetras today.
Has anyone had fish just disappear without a trace? I have dug through this tank a million times and removed 90% of the plants and there has never been a remanent of the 2 that just disappeared. Also somehow missing a snail. The 2nd picture is of my lid, there isn’t a single gap anywhere. I count everyone in the tank very often so I just don’t understand how? Please let me know if this has happened to anyone else?

Are they in the filter? Looks like there is no prefilter sponge on it.
Were they too hungry that they ate themselves?
Yes i had one betta that disappeared. Found him a week later. He had jumped through the little hole for the filter outake lid similar to yours. Im assuming then flopped off the lid into the tank cords behind the table where he met his end. When I found him he was wedged between the three cords I had twist tied together.
I saw someone post her that literally lost her betta and never physically found it 😳
