I'm fishing for decades and tested so many different lines and landed on these as my absolute favorites. Curious if anyone has a different opinion / preference.

Braid – Suffix 832 in 20lb. Strong enough for any freshwater fish I encounter and thin enough to get max casting. No issues digging into my spools. Using on my baitcasters and medium spinning for lake fishing (Bass, Pickerel, Perch).

Braid Leader – Seaguar Blue Label 15lb Fluro. I tried so many different fluro brands and types and I really like how blue label ties. I also like how supple it is compared to others I've tested. 15lb is not too thick or too thin.

Mono – Maxima Ultragreen 4lb. Silky smooth mono with great castability, strength and abrasion resistance. Use exclusively on Ultralight rods for stream trout fishing.

  1. I tried Suffix 832 in 10lbs and I like it. TBH I also use less expensive braid and I am not sure if the extra cost is worth it but I have not done much testing. Overall I just like braid much more over straight mono and flouro.

I agree… though seaguar is a bit finicky what did it break at? You use trilene knot to hook ?

I like that 832 quite a bit. I haven’t used the blue label, but I got a few spools of orange label on clearance and they lasted me a couple years as leader material, 10&12 lb. I think it actually said trout and steelhead on the package but I used it mostly for bass and it worked great and tied fg knots very well.
