Rescued this guy from
A literal flower vase but everytime I come near ( even to do feedings because I have other tanks over here ) he flares , I can’t tell if maybe he’s doing that even when I’m not around because this tank is bigger than what he’s used to and he’s seeing his own reflection or maybe he just doesn’t like me 😭

Flaring can mean a lot of things from stress, to just being curious, exercise , to even showing off for mating purposes. Sometimes they’ll think we are male Bettas so they’ll try to flare their gills as big as they can so they look threatening. He isn’t mean he’s just doing what he’s made to do
Mine tends to flare at me in the mornings and at his food lol, they seem to all have there own reasons for flaring
