the pic related (GPT Generated) is my set up idea for handlining. except the sinker and the main line will be connected with a thinner line so if the sinker were to get stuck, I could just pull the line out snapping it.

Now the thing is, how do I throw the sinker/stone without hooking myself in the process?

The lake is over crowded with tilapia (invasive in my region) so I'm trying to do my part in eliminating these roaches out.

Need advice pls.

Use only one hook or you’ll get tangled every cast. Also the thinnest line is supposed to be between the hook and the sinker so if the sinker gets stuck it’s the only thing you lose.

You should also use a sliding float and a floatstopper so the whole package is more compact to throw. But personally I’d rather get a floatfishing rod.
