He does this sometimes. Once a week maybe? He’s also been “yawning”.

I just ran out of water testing strips, I’m going to the store to get the master kit tomorrow since it’s more accurate. As of the last reading, his perimeters were exactly where they needed to be (0 ammonia and nitrate, 7.5 pH, 0 nitrate from what I recall).

His heater broke three days ago so his water has been at 71. I am getting a new one tomorrow as well, before it broke it was at 81-83 most of the time.

I put an airstone in the tank yesterday.

I think he’s just seen his reflection and is trying to intimidate it lol. I wouldn’t worry. That’s a beautiful betta btw

  2. It looks to me like he’s flashing. The temperature drop very well could have caused this. Other common causes are ammonia or flukes.

Based on the other replies, it seems everything is fine, so I also want to chime in and say that’s a stunning fish!

First of all that’s one handsome fish. It looks like he may have some itchy spots on his skin. Fast temperature changes could weaken his immune system and his slimy protective coat. There are some drops that helps with this. I would add that to my buying list just to be safe. After water temperature returns to what he used to most probably he’ll be fine. Because other than those itchings he looks quite healthy.

He’s flashing, so he’s itchy. We had one with flukes do this. She’s in her hospital tank mostly recovered.

Different things can make them itch. But, if it’s something like flukes, you have to treat it. Water quality, temperature. But, you are saying this went on before those things changed.
