I just learned that this is pretty good knot to tie swivels , but i do not inderstand how should i tie it on both ends since on step 3 you need to loop around and if there is already a line tied on that end it is pretty impractical to loop it around all the conmected line?

  1. Just tie your favorite Snell knot on the other end and send it. Uni Snell easy Snell are two examples that work.

The best knot is the one you can tie.

I have always tied a week or not on the downstream end of a swivel. That way , if I get really snagged , I know where it will break.

  3. You need to tye the reel end last, and it will be more complicated putting whatever is on the other end of your swivel through the tag loop. But that’s the only way to do it.

If it’s a huge rig it can be impractical. But you can usually get it done with a big enough tag loop and enough determination. Keep the other end coiled up or on the spool if possible. You can sorta just thread it a lot of times too (instead of putting your loop around the other line, put the other line through the loop)

A lot of times its better to just throw a clinch or uni on one end. Or just use a line to line knot if the swivel isnt critical.

Palomar is damn near 100% knot strength. Best knot ever for hooks or swivels. Kind of a variation of a surgeons knot for joining line.

  5. try to figure it out because it is totally worth it, i have been using the Palomar knot for around 25 years with braid and not one knot failure yet!
